Challenges women in their 40's face
Over the last 17 years I have helped hundreds of women achieve their body transformation goals. However, I noticed that those in their 20's and 30's seemed to have an easier time reaching their goals. So I started to get curious and figure out why
Here is what I discovered 👇🏻
Reason 1: Women in their 40's are in the busiest phase of their lives. Working, building businesses or climbing the career ladder. Raising a family and holding down the home. Or looking after aging parents. As well as life admin and the never ending To-Do list. All whilst trying to keep up with a busy social life or maybe all of the above!
Reason 2: From the age of 35 onwards or hormones are starting to decline. By the time we reach 40 we will be in the early stages of menopause whether you have missed a period or not, or you have no symptoms. This may mean your approach to how you diet and how you exercise may have to change. And you will know this is true if what you did in your 20's and 30's to see results isn't having the same effect now.
Reason 3: Through your adult life your will have likely picked up a lot of misinformation about diet and exercise. You may have tried many diets. Gained weight and lost it, only to gain it back again. You might have developed a poor relationship with food, exercise and more importantly your body. Maybe you believe that you aren't good enough. Or you just need to try harder. Or feel like you are a failure? Do you compare yourself to others? Do you have self sabotaging behaviours? THIS is all to do with your mindset. Helen 42, decided to take action as she wanted to get in shape and feel fantastic for her wedding wearing the dress of her dreams which was going to be in 17 months time.
Having struggled with her weight for a while, like many women Helen had tried various diets and whilst the had worked temporarily, nothing seemed to stick and the weight always came back, usually because those diets were unsustainable in the long term. This time she wanted it be different.
I put a plan of action together for Helen that was specific to her around her diet and weekly exercise regimen. She was actually surprised at how much food she was able to eat, it didn't feel like a diet!
Helen resistance trains four times a week and focuses on hotting her daily step target. So far we haven't added in any cardio and she's remained consistent over the last 10 months.
Of course there have been challenges along the way with holidays and trips away, night outs and celebrations, as well as operation and 6 week recovery time. All of which I worked closely with Helen to help her navigate and get through without it having a negative impact on her journey.
10 months in and Helen has lost over 25KG, dropped a number of dress sizes and her confidence has sky rocketed! Had you of asked Helen back at the start of her journey if she would do a Fitness Photoshoot she probably would have laughed. Now she is wearing crop tops and completed not one but two photoshoots!

My Story & How I Got Here
From mid teens I found myself consciously comparing my body to others. Like you, I had grown up in the 90's, the era of chic heroin and super waif supermodels. Then there were the 00's and it's size zero. I strived to be "skinny" because that's what society had been telling me was the acceptable beauty standards at the time.
In order to be skinny, I spent hours each week doing cardio in the gym. I ate extremely low calories that had very little to no nutrients. So whilst I achieve the goal of being skinny, I was doing more harm than good to my body 😢 I would also struggle to sustain that skinny look, so my weight and dress size would fluctuate wildly.
That early part of my adult years lead to a distorted view and complicated relationship with food, exercise and my body. When I was skinny I had loads of confidence and when I gained a little weight that confidence disappeared. Myself worth was completely tied up in how I looked.
In 2008, at the age of 28, after I had my two daughters. I decided to try a new approach to health and fitness 🙌🏻 I saw a photo of a lady in a magazine. She was slim, toned and in my opinion looked hot! She had muscle but also looked very feminine. So I took this photo to a Personal Trainer in my gym and asked him to make me look like her. That's honestly what I did lol!
He was brilliant and introduced to me to the weights section of the gym and taught me how to lift weights. It was tough, but I loved it. I loved how different it felt to doing cardio, it was a different kind of buzz. He also showed me how to eat to support my new goal of dropping body fat and building muscle to look like that lady in the photo I had shown him. In a short space of time I saw some fantastic results and I WAS HOOKED!
With in a year, I decided to study as a Personal Trainer so that I could switch careers (I worked in an office at the time) and help more women, who like me, thought that their dream body was found on the treadmill. Every women needed to know what I had just discovered! I wanted to shout about it 📣
This led to a career in competing in Fitness Competitions and where I became a Bikini Pro in my 30's winning many shows.
My own fitness journey has had it's ups and downs as I worked through my own mindset baggage I had collected through the years. This led me onto another journey of Personal Development. The more I learnt about myself the more I could help my clients. I fell in love with the world of mindset and saw the connection between those who were successful in achieving their goals and those who weren't. It all came down to their mindset 🧠
So I went back to studying and became a qualified NLP practitioner. This has allowed me to work at a deeper level with my clients and provide that missing piece to their body transformation journey and it's produced incredible results.
Once I turned 40, I decided to get into the best shape of my life. I wanted to prove to myself and inspire other women that wasn't downhill at 40. However, I know that the landscape to health and fitness at 40 looked different than previously, due to hormonal changes.
Off I went again to study heath nd fitness at midlife and become a Certified Menopause Coach. I wanted to be able to help my clients thrive and I could see that navigating and achieving their goals felt more challenging for those in their 40's, but totally possible with the right approach
This bring me to where we are now, helping women in their 40's achieve their fitness goals and redefining what 40 looks like. Twice a year I hold a Female Health and Wellness Show called "Thrive Live" twice a year. I have a podcast called Fierce at 40. And own a Supplements Company called "StrongHer"
My passion lays in helping women live a stronger, healthier, happier and more confident life. I started out confused and doing all the wrong things to turning it around to become the best version of me yet. And you can too 💪🏻
